The charts indicate a cold week ahead with low daytime temperatures and the potential for widespread frost by night. However, with pressure remaining reasonably high the emphasis will be on dry weather for much of the time although some snow showers are possible. Indeed, the radar currently shows some sleet/snow showers in parts of Eastern England and these are likely to affect parts of the West Midlands region this afternoon. Disruption due to snow appears unlikely but obviously the risk of icy roads/pavements is increased where showers give wet surfaces.
Hence, the main message is the week ahead will be cold but the risk of disruption due to snowfall is low based on current data. Nonetheless, some icy surfaces are to be expected. We shall keep you informed of any changes.
