Simon Welch joined Shipston Town Council in July 2008. Simon is 62 years of age and has a wife and three grown up children. Prior to retiring was a university academic. Simon’s roles on the council are as leader of the Emergency Planning Group and as a members of the General Purposes Working Party. He is secretary of the Shipston & District Gardening Club, a member of the Shipston-in-Bloom Committee and in his spare time enjoys gardening and playing golf.

Meet the Councillors
Ian Cooper joined the Town Council in 2006. Ian runs his own Consultancy and Accounting business. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the
Dot Courtney is married with three grown up children, four grand children and one great grandchild. She works as a duty manager within home care. Dot joined the Council in May 2008 and acts as the liaison with the Townsend Hall Trust. She is the leader of the planining working group. For leisure Dot enjoys reading, computers and “speaking with people”.
Fay Ivens joined the Town Council in November 2009. Married with two grown up daughters and four grand children, Fay worked in catering and hospitality management before her retirement. She was Chairman of Shipston In Bloom for three years and is an active member of Shipston Gardening Club, the Women’s Institute and undertakes voluntary work at
Karl Peacock is 45 years of age and with his wife, Sharon, owns and manages the Bakery in
Alan Noyce joined Shipston Town Council in 2004 and is the towns longest serving Town Mayor, having served three terms from 2007 to May 2010. He acted as consort to his wife for the two terms that she held this position. Alan, with his wife, Angela who died in 2009, has a grown up family of three children and their families. He works on a part time basis transporting children to and from their schools. When not working on council business or representing the council on numerous outside organisations, his interests include fishing, watching sport and, for many years he bred and raced pigeons.
Jane Pearce joined the Council in 2008 and currently serves on the General Purposes Working Group and represents the Council on the Vision for the
Paul Rathkey was seconded onto the Town Council in July 2008. Paul is married with four children and works with the Corus Group as a Human Resources Manager. His council responsibilities include chairmanship of the Staff Working Group and membership of the Communications Working Party. In his leisure time he is Fixtures Secretary and 2nd XI Captain of the Stratford Bards Cricket Club
Philip Vial (46) joined Shipston Town Council in May 2008 and has become a member of the Finance Working Party and the Communications Working Group. He was elected to Stratford District Council as a Liberal Democrat at a by-election in 2010. By profession, Philip is a qualified nurse and currently works as Assistant Matron at a busy community hospital in Gloucestershire. He is married to Rachel, the Practice Manager at the Medical Centre. He is particularly interested in green issues, and is a member of Transition Shipston and Surrounding Communities. In what little time he has left he is a keen photographer, practicing Christian and is Secretary of Shipston Liberal Democrats. He has recently become addicted to golf.
Jackie Warner joined the Town Council in 2008, prior to which she was a regular attendee at Council Meetings raising many serious and interesting matters. Married, with three children, Jackie works at Shipston Post Office and in her spare time is heavily involved with children’s activities in the town, supporting the Rainbows and Junior Firefighters. Her roles within the council include membership of both the Planning and General Purposes Working Groups.
