I am wondering what the future holds for the old workhouse. On passing recently the grounds are overgrown, and the whole place has a very neglected air. Who owns the property now, and are there any plans for it in the pipeline?

Just to say that I think the town looks fantastic this year - the planting is wonderful, with the colours and arrangements really thought out and orchestrated.
A lot of people have done their bit with baskets, window boxes and gardens too and I really think it makes a huge difference, so I hope that Shipston in Bloom get their rightly awarded position in the competition and all that have helped towards it can be rewarded for all their hard work.

Hi Can the Council give me an update on the parcel of land at the old tilemans lane and the £125k tied in to it? The last update was the council was trying to separate the money from the land and I would like to know what they are planning to use this for.......hopefuly something for the benefit of Shipston?
Also has the council recveived any further suggestions for the land......? I'm keen to see this turned in to allotments still for the use of the local estates residents....even for the short term while the council make their mind up...!!

I've been reading through the miuntes from the council meetings and I was wondering...... there seems to be a numeber of pionts that are rasied by both councillors and members of the public, but I don't seem to be able to see what actions have happened about most of the points. Is the objective of these meetings to raise questions and in some cases 'have a good old moan' about things but not to actually get questions answered or actioned?
I have looked at a number of things discussed in April, May and June's minutes and I can't see anything has been either moved forward to answered to the very vast majority of the issues. These include - a market being back in town (waiting for SUB for over 3 months so far), distribution of the forum (raised in April then never mentioned again) and so forth...
Unless things are actually goingto change or agree NOT to change, whatever the case, its just a big talking shop. Its easy to have ideas and voice moans, but to come up with solutions is the whole point!! When a point is raised at a meeting it should be actioned, sorted and reported back, or whats the blimmin' point??! You've got a meeting that has things from some chap moaning that there are kids singing in the library once a week and pushing everyone out (!!) and issues surrounding fundemental changes to the ethos of the town, but it's all pointless unless it is given direction and followed through. Each point should be re-visited and noted what is happening or, at the risk of repeating myself, WHY BOTHER!?
Look at the points and action them - feed back what is happening, push for answers and someone take acountablilty for doing so. Get some wins for goodness sake and then tell us what you have actually sorted out. If need be, go through the last 6 months minutes, starting in Jan 08, list evey point made and up to June, see how many have been addressed and resolved - perhaps all of the people 'forced' out of the library because of the "lady-with-the-guitar" could do this task as it sounds right up their street!

I've just seen the headline that "Co-op buys Somerfield for £1.57bn".... I wonder what affect this will have on our facilities in the town.
Perhaps this may release a store for another food chain to take over.....TESCO????
Does anyone know or have any knowledge of what is happening with the proposed new eco town plans...is anyone concerned about the impact this will have on Shipston and what else can be done to ensure this doesnt happen to our area, especially as we now have some new local residents nearby...
