BRAND New Dance Night Starting in Shipston, FREE ENTRY on 26 July and 2 August Townsend Hall, Sheep Street, Shipston-on-Stour

Ceroc is a modern partner dance. A fusion of jive and salsa but easier to learn. It's fun and friendly and suitable for all ages from 16-60!

There's no need to bring a partner, no need to pre-book - simply come along and join in the class. We will be at Townsend Hall every week - so no excuse not to give it a try!

Beginners are very welcome as we kick off with a beginner class at 8pm. There is an intermediate class for the more experienced and then freestyle to finish so you can practice what you've learnt to a variety of different tracks.

Police Warning

E-mail

FOOTBALL fans in Shipston on Stour are among those being urged to stay sensible during the World Cup.

Warwickshire Police is increasing patrols across the county to counter potential anti-social behaviour.  Superintendent Martin Samuel said: "We welcome any fans who want to come into the towns to watch the matches and enjoy themselves

"During previous tournaments there has been very little trouble in the county and we are expecting a similar mature approach by fans during this World Cup.

"However we are not complacent and both our partners and ourselves are intent on making this an enjoyable time for all residents, and visitors to our towns.

"The vast majority of people are well behaved, have a sensible approach to alcohol and will leave the towns having had a good night out. But where any person attempts to cause trouble, officers will move swiftly to stop them.

Let's Talk About the Supermarket

E-mail

Shipston Online comments show that there are Shipston residents who are in favour of the proposed large supermarket up the Campden Road. The main reasons they put forward are that it could cost less to shop there and it would use less petrol than driving to the surrounding supermarkets in Stratford, Moreton, Banbury, Stow.

There are also Shipston residents, including Transition Town members (and me!), who are opposed to the proposed supermarket, mainly because supermarkets on the edge of towns lead to the closure of small independent shops in the centre and this group values highly the local shops and being able to shop without driving.
