Getting Started...
Background
The Shipston Blog used to be located at www.shipstononline.org/shipstonblog. This has now been closed down to allow integration into Shipston Online. The Blog still functions in the same manner but is now accessible under 'Blog' from the main menu at Shipston Online. In order to use the Shipston Blog, you must be a member of Shipston Online which is free for everyone to sign up to. Once you register with Shipston Online your membership becomes active immediately and you can then login and begin posting and commenting on posts by others.
Becoming a Member of Shipston Online to Blog
In order to Blog at Shipston Online you will need to become a member. The reason for this is to help prevent spam appearing and to provide each user of the Blog an 'identity' which is the users username. This username can be your real name or a fake alias if you wish to remain anonymous upon the Blog.
To begin blogging you will need to sign up and provide:
1) Your name (confidential)
2) Your email address (confidential)
3) Your user name (which appears on posts and comments)
4) A password to access the account
Upon becoming a member of Shipston Online you will receive a confirmation e-mail within minutes (which sometimes appears in spam folders), and you will be able to login immediately upon registering. No activation is required!
 Once register you can login where you will be provided with a welcome
screen with options including options for the Blog such as 'Read the
Shipston Blog' and 'Write an Entry on the Blog'. These options also
appear on the Members Menu.
Writing a Post and Commenting
To write a post, simply select 'Write a Blog' from the members menu or the welcome screen. From here you are provided with a screen which shows you any posts you have made. To make a new one, select 'Write a New Blog'. Click there grey bar at the top (where is says Click here to enter a title), to enter the title of your Blog. e.g. The BBC visits Shipston. In the white area beneath, you can then write your blog (preferably between 300 - 500 words). When you can completed the blog, select save (which you can do to save the blog as you write), or save and close, which will save the blog and close the screen. The Blog will not appear on the site until is has been moderated by the site's administrator.
To comment on a blog, simply navigate to the blog of interest and scroll to the bottom to add a comment. You must enter the capcha code (used to help prevent spam), you must accept our terms and conditions and then select add comment. The comments appear immediately on the site. If this feature is abused, we hold the right to terminate your membership immediately.
Already Register at Shipston Online?
If you have already signed up with an account at Shipston Online ( NOT the old www.shipstononline.org/shipstonblog location) all you need to do is sign in to continue blogging.
