Town Council E-Mail

Clark House Shipston-on-Stour Town Council was formed in 1974 following Local Government re-organisation. The name was changed from Shipston-on-Stour Parish to Town Council to avoid confusion. As a result of the same re-organisation the Shipston Rural District Council was abolished, it’s functions being taken over by the then new Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

The main functions of a Town or Parish Council are to gather the opinions of the local residents and influence others to provide services for the area. Shipston Town Council also provides a number of other benefits to the Town by taking responsibility for open spaces, burial grounds, litter picking, gardening and recreation facilities.

To date, the Parish or Town Council is the longest continuing local authority in the local government arena serving and reflecting the needs of the community. The Parish and Town Councils celebrated the centenary in 1994. Shipston-on-Stour Town Council has the overall aim of continuing to serve the local people of Shipston-on-Stour for the next one hundred years.

In September 2006 our website was completely re-developed by Oliver Kemp. In March 2007  and again in March 2008, the content of the site had grown so quickly that the structure and layout of the site was completely redone in March 2008. We hope you enjoy our new website.
