The Environment Agency will not be building any flood defences for a
South Warwickshire town despite 80 houses being flooded last summer.
An agency spokesman said the flooding at Shipston-on-Stour had been
caused by water overflowing from the river and surface water failing to
drain away.
The problem should be solved by clearing vegetation on the Stour, it is claimed.
The agency will then carry out work to reduce silt banks at a bridge.
Once the work has been carried out, the agency will see how well
it works before looking again at building flood defences, a spokesman
said.
